Tests!

If you have got through the first stage of the application process, you may be asked to take some online tests. Make sure you give yourself enough time to complete these quietly and you are calm and prepared – have a pen and paper ready, a calculator, a drink and a clear comfortable working space. Some may require you to use a laptop rather than a tablet and DO NOT try to use a smart phone – you will need a much larger screen. If you don’t have a suitable device ask your school or college careers department or your form tutor if you can use a computer. You are usually given a deadline for when you must have completed the tests so make sure you make note of this otherwise you will be eliminated from the process.

and so on to the tests…..

These can be very different but it is advisable to be as well prepared as possible. My son did maths tests, personality tests, literacy tests, scenario based tests, game based tests etc etc. There are a few websites where you can find practice tests for free and some which you can take out a short subscription. Some application processes give you a practice go before you start the real thing.

Here are some useful links to practice sites, beginning with the excellent Barclays Life Skills –
